Take a fall getaway to Oxnard to enjoy the California sunshine, golden duned beaches, and must-see sunsets. Fall in Oxnard is one of my favorite times of year to visit. The climate is warm and comfortable and it’s only a one-hour drive from Los Angeles. It’s an easy weekend escape from the hustle and bustle.
10 Ways to Spend the Perfect Fall Day in Oxnard, California
Here are 10 ways to spend the perfect Fall day in Oxnard.
1. Rent a Surrey
A fun way to see Oxnard is via Surrey at Wheel Fun Rentals. Pack some sunscreen and get ready to soak in the California coastline while getting some exercise. We rented a Surrey from Zachari Dunes Hotel and followed the route on the map for a one-hour adventure. They provide helmets for kids.
2. Check into Zachari Dunes
Escape the ordinary and relax and unwind at the luxe pool at Zachari Dunes on Mandalay Beach. The hotel has a games room for kids and adults and poolside service. Spend the day diving into a good book by the pool or hot tub and don’t forget to make a reservation for dinner at Ox and Ocean.
3. Cruise in a Duffey
Explore the Channel Islands Harbor on a Duffey boat. Boats can fit up to 12 passengers so you can easily celebrate a special occasion or plan a date night for two. You can bring your own food and drinks and don’t forget your camera to capture the sea life at the Harbor.
4. Watch the Sunset
Oxnard has some pretty spectacular sunsets so it would be a shame to miss golden hour. Grab a picnic blanket, wine and snacks and head to Oxnard Shores for a unforgettable family outing.
5. Date Night at 1901
Get all fancy and head out for dinner and drinks at 1901. This is one of my favorite places to eat in Oxnard. There’s also a speakeasy, where you can listen to Live music and continue to party after your wine and dine in Heritage Square. It’s definitely one to add to your must-visit list!
6. Eat tacos
Conquer the Taco Trail in Oxnard and enjoy some of the best eats in the 805. Not sure which one to try first? Oxnard has so many taquerias they created a mobile pass to start your foodie adventure.
7. Drinks at Waterside
Channel Islands Harbor is the place to go to rent kayaks, paddleboards and jet skis. So why not, enjoy dinner and drinks where all the action is? Waterside has a Happy Hour menu from 3-6 pm Tuesday – Friday and cozy outdoor seating. They also have live music and a fun atmosphere.
8. Explore the Seabridge Marina
When you’re traveling with kids, anywhere that has an outdoor play area is a good idea. Enjoy lunch with the fam at The Raven Tavern and walk to the playground at Seabridge Marina. There are many walkways, luxe boats and a plethora of restaurants to enjoy.
9. Trick or Treating at the Collection at RiverPark
If you love Halloween, you won’t want to miss this big family event at the Collection at RiverPark. It gets busy, so arrive early and in costume to collect treats from various shops and restaurants.
10. Watch the Parade of Frights
Who says you can only wear your Halloween costume once a year? Dress up in costumes and enjoy the Halloween festivities at the Channel Islands Harbor. The Parade of Frights kicks off with a fun scavenger hunt at the Channel Islands Maritime Museum and hop on board the Mystic Whaler Tall Ship. There’s also a costume parade and trick-or-treating at the Parade of Frights Marketplace South of Marine Emporium Landing.
