Fun Photo Ops
One of the more quirky things about this resort is all the little setups along the beachfront that are basically there just for guests to get photos with. The bicycle covered in flowers in front of the resort’s sign, the staircase to nowhere, the giant clam or the tepee on the beach, just to name a few. These were all very popular with guests (including myself) and added a fun pop of colour to the resort.
Activities Hut
The activities hut is conveniently located next to the pool and is where guests can get fresh pool towels. Plus, it was impressive how many other things were available there.
The resort offers lessons for all levels in freediving, mermaid diving (the costume looks beautiful) and scuba diving. There’s a deep pool next to the gym that is specially used for these activities.
Guest can also hire Kayaks for 300THB per hour and massive pool floaties for 200TBH per hour.
I can understand that the diving courses cost money but I wasn’t a fan of being charged for use of Kayaks and pool floaties. Anyone in this area of the resort was already a paying guest so in my option, these should be free to use.
See The Animals at the Beach Zoo
Twice a day the resort’s cutest residents come to the lawn by the pool and interact with guests. These residents are a wise old Tortoise, two piglets, plus plenty of parrots, doves and bunny rabbits.
09:00 – 10:00
16:00 – 17:00
The animals aren’t confined to an enclosure during these times (except the rabbits did have a little pen) and freely moved around the area. There was always a staff member close by to make sure guests were taking care of the animals and also had seeds for the birds and bottles of milk for the piglets that guests could feed them.
As long as the animals are always shown respect I think this is a really fun idea, especially seeing the big Tortoise just wander around, munching on grass.
Helpful Taxi Service
Opposite reception Thavorn Beach Village Resort has a taxi stand and I found this super convenient because the taxis were usually ready and waiting.
So a Taxi to Patong if arranged by the resort’s taxi stand costs 300THB one way. Or the resort also had free shuttle bus services between the resort and Patong, but this unfortunately was only once a day. From memory, the shuttle left the resort at 4 pm back from Patong at 9 pm.
Also if anyone is after more than just a holiday in Phuket, maybe you want to get married? There is a section of the resort called Old Siam and this can be hired for a private function. Although it was never used during my stay so I didn’t get to see what it would look like all setup.
Nakalay Private Beach
Thavorn Beach Village Resort & Spa surrounds a private beach called Nakalay beach. I loved this because it made the resort have even more of a secluded feel.
The beach was less attractive at low tide though as the water went right out and exposed all the rocks on the ocean floor.
