The Ventura Harbor is a great place to spend a day with the kids. There are plenty of shops and restaurants to explore, as well as boat rentals, fishing charters, and whale-watching tours.

Explore the Botanical Gardens 

The Ventura Botanical Gardens is a beautiful 107-acre garden with a variety of plants and flowers from all over the world. The hike has spectacular views of the California Coastline, and it’s suitable for all ages. 

Visit the Channel Islands National Park Visitor Center

The Visitor Center is open seven days a week and features a live tidal pool and viewing tower with great views of Ventura Harbor, Channel Islands and the coastline. There are interactive displays where kids can learn all about plants, animals and sea life in Channel Islands National Park. 

Explore Main Street 

Whether you’re looking for a bite to eat, want to do some shopping or grab a gelato, Main Street in Downtown Ventura has it all. Pop into one of the thrift stores to score hidden gems, or pick a coffee and a sweet treat at Palermo. Finney’s Crafthouse has a great kids’ menu and outdoor seating. Main Street is closed to traffic.

Check out Serra Cross Park 

Serra Cross Park is an iconic Ventura landmark with stellar 360-degree views of the ocean and Ventura. There are plenty of benches, beautiful flowers, hummingbirds and a grassy area that’s perfect for a family picnic.
